18-03-20 COVID-19 UPDATE

Following the latest information/guidelines issued by HM Government and the RYA, and discussions with our own Management Committee, it has been agreed to take the following action with regard to the ongoing Coronavirus/ COVID-19.

The following events are cancelled with immediate effect.

– 21-03-20 Saturday Sailing (Until Further Notice)
– 21-03-20 Club Boat Cleaning
– 28-03-20 Boat Jumble
– 28-03-20 First Aid course
– 28-03-20 Safety Boat course
– 28-03-20 Fitting out supper
– W/c 06-04-20 Easter Sailing School

If you have already purchased tickets for any of these events,
the office will contact you directly over the next few days to issue refunds.
As you can imagine, they are presently being inundated with telephone calls so we would ask you to not contact them but await their call.

The office and staff will maintain their winter working hours, Monday to Friday. We would urge you to refrain from visiting the office if at all possible, for the time being.
The Club House will also remain closed during this time (The toilets will remain open as usual so please ensure you wash your hands as per guidelines)

The racing programme will be suspended until, at least April 30th. This means that there will be no racing at NBYC during this time. If you wish to bring your boats to the club early, please feel free to do so. If you have volunteered for duties during this period, thank you for volunteering, but these duties are now cancelled.

I can confirm that if you wish to use the broad at this time, you are perfectly within your rights to do so. We would ask that you observe all guidelines from HMG re social distancing etc.

This will by no means be the end of it, but these measures allow us time to give timely consideration to future racing/training/social events in the calendar as the situation develops and further guidelines become available.

Without doubt, we find ourselves in a situation, like never before. Please do take note of the advice that is flowing from the government and the NHS to protect yourselves and your families. I have very recently seen from the inside, the effect that this situation is having on our hospitals and the hospital staff. I am sure they will have your confidence as they work to care for us. Do be reassured that the decisions of your Management Committee will always be taken in the best interests of the membership

Finally, I can assure you that we shall continue to review, act and communicate with you as appropriate in these difficult times

Best wishes

Paul
