Social Survey

Thanks to all of you who took part in the recent Social Survey we sent you.

I was really pleased with the level of response and have forwarded the results onto the Membership Committee so they can consider your comments and suggestions when planning the events for next season.

You can view a summary of the results here

Busy week!

Well it’s been a busy week at NBYC!

The Past Commodores evening last Friday was quickly followed by the World Cup Rugby Breakfast the following morning.

Despite the short notice, we had a great turnout, serving over 60 breakfasts, and with many other members just coming along to enjoy the atmosphere (and the bar!)
Thanks to Jonathon and Jason for being so flexible with the catering arrangements!

Saturday night was the  fireworks display, and again it was busy, busy, as we had over 550 people turning up despite the awful weather during the day. Again, many thanks to bosun’s Steve and Ben, who gave us another superb firework display!

If the talk in the car park afterwards is anything to go by, we can expect another record attendance next year.

On Monday night we held a busy members evening to listen to and discuss your thoughts on the Racing Programme. Thanks again to all of you who attended. The Racing Group will be working on this and will be coming back to you over the next few weeks with their suggestions.

We are also pleased to finally announce that we have upgraded the Broadband at the club, something that will please Peter, Claire and Emily in the office, as much as it will all of us!

SmartClub Portal

We’re continuing to add functionality to the SmartClub Portal and would encourage you to login and take a look around.

  • CONTACT DIRECTORY – you can choose to publish your telephone and email details in the Contact Directory of the portal by going to the Member Profile and changing the ‘Add my contact details to the clubs public contact list?’ from ‘no’ to ‘yes’

    Contact Directory

  • TOP UP YOUR CARD – It’s very simple to see the available balance on your card by selecting the ‘Top Up Card’ option in the Dashboard. You can also add funds to your card from here – avoiding delays at the bar or hatch!

  • EVENT BOOKING – We’re also now trialling our new Event Booking system for the Rugby World Cup Final breakfast on November 2nd. Just go to the ‘Events’ area of the portal, select the event you wish to book onto, and proceed to payment.

PLEASE NOTE. You can only make a booking for yourself and anyone else associated with your account. Please contact the office if you cannot see a family member in the list of names.

Non-members can now be booked in via this LINK

Your new Management Committee

Thank you to everyone who attended the AGM on Saturday night; it’s always encouraging to see strong membership engagement at these meetings.

Here are the results of the Management Committee election but we would first like to thank those of you who put your names forward but were unsuccessful on the night – in what was a very tight ballot.

Those elected/re-elected were:

Beth Campbell
Geoff Angell
James Dugdale
Martin Thompson
Ian Richardson
Sarah Hovey
Heather Evans
Geoff Evans
Linda Aspland
Will Knight
Kate Aitken
Mark Absalom
Cathryn Brady
Mike Barnes

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank those Committee members who chose not to stand this year, for all their efforts in their time on the Committee. They are Bob Branford, Mark Easton, Jock Grieve, Henry Harston, Nick Hovey, Anthony Landamore, Kirsty Youngman.

Planning for next season is now underway and we’re looking forward to our members meeting on Monday November 4th at 7pm when we’re looking for your thoughts on how we can remodel our racing programme to encourage greater activity on the water.

Saturdays Racing Cancelled

Please be aware that Saturdays racing has been cancelled due to 30 mph+ winds. A decision on Sundays racing will be taken at 10 am and if possible, we will hold 3 races for the cruiser event with 2 to count.
