Volunteering on Dutyman


Volunteering for a duty in Dutyman is really easy to do.

  • Access Dutyman from the NBYC website homepage (top right corner).
  • Enter your login details and click the green arrow.
  • If you now click ‘List View’ you will see the upcoming events and the duties that still need volunteers.
  • You will see the duties that need volunteers.
  • To Volunteer click ‘Volunteer for a Duty’ and follow the instructions. Simply put, you click the  blue icon next to ‘Volunteer Required’ then ‘Volunteer’. Dutyman icon

And that’s it. You will receive an email confirming the duty details. You will also be sent useful reminders prior to the duty as well.

GoCardless Payments


Why GoCardless?

We sometimes get asked why we use GoCardless to manage our online payments. The answer is security.

When you link your WebCollect account to GoCardless:

  • No card data is stored on our servers at NBYC.
  • No card data is stored on WebCollect Servers.
  • When you enter your details, you are using the GoCardless servers.
  • This data is encrypted at rest and in transit using strong encryption protocols.
  • All transactions are covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee so if anything goes wrong with a transaction, payers are entitled to an instant refund.

Who are GoCardless?

GoCardless process more than $20bn in transactions a year.

They are authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority under the Payment Services Regulations 2017 and has been ISO27001 certified since 2016.

You link your WebCollect account when you pay your first transaction with GoCardless.

From this point on, you can easily pay for events, training, race entry, subscriptions and moorings etc without having to fumble for your debit card.

With your permission, the office can take a payment on your behalf – similar to phoning up and reading out your card details (but more secure!).

For peace of mind, every transaction is acknowledged to you instantly via email. In the unlikely event of a non-authorised payment being taken you have up to 5 days to cancel that transaction.

Re-Opening Timetable

The weather is improving and we are all looking forward very much to getting back on the water and enjoying each others company once again.

This timetable is provisional and should be considered with due regard to the current advice from HMG in force at any time and the latest version of the NBYCCovid Security Advice and Instructions. March 2021”.

We are advised that whereas there will be no limit on the numbers of persons allowed to sail there will continue to be restrictions on the numbers permitted to gather on shore until 21 June 2021.

  • March 8th – School sailing permitted to return.
    Toilets will be available but not showers or changing facilities. Self catering only.
  • March 29th – The club grounds open to members.
  • April 4th – Sunday racing programme starts. Self catering only.
  • April 17th –  Hatch (outside), access takeaway bar and snacks available.
  • May 2nd – Open Regatta. Pre-booked entry by WebCollect only with restricted numbers. Hatch takeaway available.
  • May 15th & 16th Keelboat Open Weekend entry by WebCollect only with restricted numbers. Hatch takeaway available.
  • May 17th –  Limited indoor hospitality available.
  • June 21st – Number restrictions lifted.

Discussions on the social programme, training and in particular Wroxham Week continue. We will advise members about these as soon as possible. If you wish to make suggestions or share ideas on these we welcome your contributions.

COVID-19 Update – 11-01-2021

Although we are presently working remotely at the moment, we want to let you know that we are still here for all things office related! Claire and Emily are working this week from the comfort of their own homes (with the kettle constantly on and the biscuit tin at hand!) and are manning the email account so do please send us a message to hello@nbyc.co.uk if you have an enquiry. We will do our best to reply to you as soon as we can.

Subscription and Mooring renewals can still be paid via WebCollect by either selecting the Bank Transfer or Go Cardless payment options, unfortunately we cannot process a card payment over the phone this week.

If you cannot find your subscription renewal email or cannot recall receiving it please do let us know and we will resend it to you.

If you are taking benefit of the Gifted Membership and wish to sign up a friend or relative please follow the steps below:
The process requires you the recipient of the gifted membership to complete the application form on WebCollect by visiting this link:
When the recipient of the membership gets to the payment screen they need to select BACS Transfer to complete the application, but are not required to make the payment. Notification of the application will be forwarded to us and we will process in the usual way. We look forward to welcoming new members this year!

COVID-19 Update – 05-01-2021

Due to the latest Government guidance and unforeseen circumstances the
Office at Norfolk Broads Yacht Club will be closed & the telephones unmanned this week.
