COVID-19 Update – 11-01-2021

Although we are presently working remotely at the moment, we want to let you know that we are still here for all things office related! Claire and Emily are working this week from the comfort of their own homes (with the kettle constantly on and the biscuit tin at hand!) and are manning the email account so do please send us a message to hello@nbyc.co.uk if you have an enquiry. We will do our best to reply to you as soon as we can.

Subscription and Mooring renewals can still be paid via WebCollect by either selecting the Bank Transfer or Go Cardless payment options, unfortunately we cannot process a card payment over the phone this week.

There are handy tips on how to renew your subscription on the NBYC website, please click here for video tutorials should you require a reminder www.nbyc.co.uk/webcollect-help-videos/. If you cannot find your subscription renewal email or cannot recall receiving it please do let us know and we will resend it to you.

If you are taking benefit of the Gifted Membership and wish to sign up a friend or relative please follow the steps below:
The process requires you the recipient of the gifted membership to complete the application form on WebCollect by visiting this link:
https://webcollect.org.uk/nbyc/subscription

When the recipient of the membership gets to the payment screen they need to select BACS Transfer to complete the application, but are not required to make the payment. Notification of the application will be forwarded to us and we will process in the usual way. We look forward to welcoming new members this year!

We hope that you are keeping safe and well in these strange times, if there is anything else you need to discuss please don’t hesitate to email us..

Best wishes

The Office Team

NBYC Update – Tier 2

In response to the most recent guidance about Norfolk moving into Tier 2 we are delighted that NBYC will reopen on 2nd December.

Slipways will be open and members may reach, attend to their boats, and sail. Unfortunately “Teal” is presently out for winter maintenance and therefore will not be available. The clubhouse will be closed, except for access to toilets, but the Office will be open for winter hours.

Discussions are ongoing about a return to Saturday training, Social sailing, and Sunday racing. Members will be informed about what is available as soon as it is organised.

The most recent RYA guidance is clear and helpful and we recommend you read this: https://www.rya.org.uk/SiteCollectionDocuments/clubs/Covid%20FAQs%20in%20England%20from%20Dec%202nd%202020.pdf
However the Broads Authority have yet to revise their current guidance although we do not anticipate it will be materially different.

COVID UPDATE

In response to the announcement by the Prime Minister, made on the 30th Oct, we find ourselves having to close the clubhouse from midnight on the 4th November until the 2nd December. The remaining racing and training calendar for 2020 is cancelled, but will resume as soon as practicable. The club crane will be available, as will Teal for those wishing to reach boats on swinging moorings. Members are reminded to adhere to the hygiene protocols currently in place. We are seeking clarification from the relevant authorities as to whether boats may be moved to winter storage elsewhere after the closure and will advise members as soon as possible. Those wishing to store boats on trailers in the top field may do so until the restrictions are lifted.
The Management Committee want to assure you that NBYC will be offering as full and as exciting a programme of racing and social activity in 2021 as will be possible and much work has already been done to ensure this will be the case.

Abandoned Boats & Trailers

We have now completed the top field and dinghy park audits. A significant number items remain unknown to the club and we would ask again that any person who has property on club premises not known to the office to make contact at their earliest opportunity.

Thank you to those who responded to our previous requests. We now move to the implementation of Rule 18 of the NBYC Constitution with regard to unpaid fees or abandoned boats etc (details here).

This means that items whose ownership is unknown, or with outstanding fees, will be clearly marked as such during the week beginning the 1st Dec. They will be disposed of by public auction after at least a further 90 days. Should a person wish to claim ownership of any marked item after 1st Dec they will be required produce written evidence of title and settle any outstanding fees and expenses.
