Norfolk Broads Yacht Club maintains a high standard of training throughout the season. We are only too pleased to accomodate our members needs. From training young juniors just beginning to sail to adult courses where you may like to improve a particular skill, everyone is guaranteed to have a lot of fun... just another reason why our week long Easter Sailing School and Cadet Week are so popular!

Club Boats

The Club owns three Yeomans, Toppers, Optibats and a Wayfarer. Please contact the Office first if you wish to use one of the Club boats.

Easter Sailing School : 3-7 April

Our very popular Easter Sailing School, for members 8 years & older. £110 pp, limited number of boats available to hire at £65. Book early to avoid disappointment, the forms are available on our website

 

Keel Boat Improvers Course : 22nd-23rd April

Two day course for sailors who can already sail a keel boat & would like to improve their existing seamanship & sailing skills. Max of 6 people sailing in Club provided Yeoman’s, £125 members / £175 non members

 

Power Boat Level 2 Course : 8th-9th May

Two day course focussing on low speed close quarters handling, man overboard recovery, an introduction to driving at planing speed, & collision regulations. Ideal for those who have never driven a power boat before as well as those with experience, £125 members / £175 non members 

 

Keel Boat Start Racing / Racing Course : 13th-14th May

Two day course for sailors that are new or have been racing for a short while & would like to improve all aspects of racing techniques & developing their skills. Max of 6 people sailing in Club provided Yeoman’s, £125 members / £175 non members

 

Power Boat Instructors Course : 30th May-2nd June

Have you thought about being a Power Boat Instructor & supporting NBYC in delivering courses at the club? The candidates will attend a four day instructor course run by an RYA Powerboat Trainer & assessed by an independent trainer. The course will consist of: principles of practical instruction, lesson planning, teaching styles, use of questioning, preparation & use of visual aids, assessment of students' learning, explanation & presentation of theory subjects, the structure of the scheme, planning progressive teaching sessions, preparation of boats & equipment, teaching methods to level 2 power boat handling, £TBA

 

Keel Boat Beginners Start Sailing Course : 10th-11th June

Two day course providing a short introduction to sailing for adult novices aged over 16 years. By the end of the course students will have a basic understanding of keel boat handling techniques & a basic background knowledge. Max of 6 people sailing in Club provided Yeoman’s, £125 members / £175 non members

 

Dinghy Beginners Start Sailing Course : 10th-11th June

Two day course providing a short introduction to sailing for novices age 8 & over including adults. By the end of the course, participants will have a basic understanding of boat handling techniques & background knowledge. Max of 3 people sailing in Club provided Wayfarers, £125 members / £175 non members

 

Summer Cadet Week : 7-11 August

Summer Cadet Week for all members 7 years & older. £110 pp, limited number of boats available to hire at £65. A fantastic mixture of sailing & activities over 5 days. The forms will be available on our website from approximately June time
